Today I decided to write something to all of you who wants to work with oil.

First of all, let me get something out of the way here. You don’t have to be a roughneck to work with oil. Even though it helps

Now, how is life on a oil rig? Well, it’s hard, but the money is good, so it’s worth it.

First of all, when you work, you work hard. Normally, you’ll work 7 days a week for 14 hours in row. You are on the oil rig for 2-3 weeks at a time.

To be honest with you, not everyone can handle that, I think you need to be somewhat special to work this way. When you start on a oil rig, the standard entry position is Roustabout jobs. Though jobs, but it will harden you and teach you a lot about the life on oil rigs. And usually the crew is nice and helpful in the beginning, even though the tone is something you need to get used to.

The duties for the Roustabout Jobs on Oil Rigs include:

• Cleaning
• Painting
• Mixing the Drilling Mud
• Hauling and Moving Supplies
• Moving Heavy Machinery and Equipment

These above are just some of the basic things you’ll be doing. It’s tuff, but well worth it, if you’re up to it.
