Jobs on oil rigs

Hi everyone… People always ask me how to get jobs on oil rigs, so I decided to write about that here on my blog.

Now, there’s two ways you can get jobs on oil rigs. You could either check the job listings or you could send out your resume to the various large oil rig companies.

I’ve always chosen to send my resume directly out to the companies, simply because the chance that they’ll reply is much bigger when you do it like that.

There is a company there has specialized in sending out resumes to A LOT of oil rig companies. I’ve used them several times and I highly recommend them to anyone who’s looking for oil rig employment, if you want to check them out then, click here to visit the Rigworker website!

When you send in your resume to a oil rig company (either trough rigworker.com or manually) you’ll have to wait until there is a opening. Needless to say, the more resumes you send out, the faster you’ll get a reply.

If you don’t have any prior experience, you will start with a roustabout position. This includes cleaning, moving machinery, painting and other manual labor. This is hard manual labor, but the pay is still good – around $47.000.

Now, there are many different types of rigs to work on. There is the platform, the Semi Submersible, The Jack Up and the Drill Ship.

Unless you have preferences, I suggest you apply for all of them. I’ve always liked to work on the platform the best, but that’s just me. If you haven’t had any jobs on oil rigs before then you should check out the Rigworker website, where you can find tons of info on about these different rigs, there’s also more in-depth information about the different job types.

I’ll also write a Post here on JobsonOilRigs.net, about the different types of jobs and rigs to work on.

But for now, This is it, if you want to a oil rig job, just go for it.

See you on the rigs.
